The indoor siren is mainly for your safety i. e. in case of a fire alarm. It is not there to warn off intruders who may when fleeing cause in their panic even more damage.

Every available detector (i. e. Smoke Detector, Motion Detector) can not only route the alarm to any telephone but also to the alarm siren for added safety.
